FSU Will Face Wheeling Jesuit On Nov. 29 In NCAA Divison II Women's Volleyball Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Fayetteville State volleyball team has learned its destination for the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Regional Championships. The Lady Broncos have received the No. 8 seed in the Atlantic Region and will face the top-seeded Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals on Thursday, Nov. 29 at the Alma Grace McDonough Center in Wheeling, WV.
Fayetteville State earns regional consideration after capturing its fourth CIAA Championship on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over the Chowan Hawks. FSU cruised through the CIAA Championship with a perfect 5-0 record and is currently riding a season-best ten-game winning streak heading into tournament play. This will be FSU's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. The Lady Broncos fell to the California (PA) Vulcans 3-0 in their only postseason appearance back in 2007.
Wheeling Jesuit is a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and won its conference tournament for the fifth consecutive year. The Cardinals are currently ranked 19th nationally, and post a 35-2 overall record.
The Women's Volleyball Championship will consist of eight, eight-team regionals: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West. Championship competition will be single-elimination best-of-five set matches. The winners of each of the eight regions advance to the championship finals that will take place Dec. 6-8.
The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will be hosted by the University of West Florida and the Pensacola Sports Association. The finals will be held on the campus of West Florida at the UWF Field House.
