HAMPTON, Va. - Five members of the Fayetteville State volleyball team were honored by the CIAA on Tuesday. Outside hitter Samantha Meeks, setter Achari Mainor and utility player Cailee Huffman were named to the ALL-CIAA first team. Senior right side hitter Gewyl Galberth was named to the second team while freshman Ifeyinwa Nwokolo was selected to the ALL-Rookie team. Meeks is second at FSU and fifth in the CIAA in kills per set. Reeshemah Johnson, the Broncos' head coach, said Meeks doesn't get the credit she deserves. "I think Sam gets overlooked," Johnson said. "She's an all-around player. She hits, she blocks, she serves and she digs. I think she is the most complete player on the team in terms of all-around ability. She is definitely one of the most dominant players in the CIAA." Mainor was second in the conference, amassing 7.71 assists per set. "Even though she may not be leading in stats, Achari (Mainor) is definitely the best setter in the conference," said Johnson. "She has spoiled the team a bit. She makes it easier for the team. She makes those bad passes good." Huffman leads FSU in digs while Nwokolo paces the Broncos in total blocks and solo blocks. Galberth has 35 kills on the season. FSU is the No. 2 seed from the Western Division and will play three matches on Friday in the CIAA Tournament.
