FAYETTEVILLE, NC – After taking the last eight days off, the Fayetteville State volleyball team will return to action on Monday evening as it hosts the Shaw Bears in a 6 p.m. contest at Felton J. Capel Arena.

The Lady Broncos enter the match with an 18-5 overall record, 13-0 CIAA mark and are 7-0 within the division, while the Bears are 10-14 on the season, 5-9 in league action and 3-5 in the division.

Fayetteville State will look to complete the season sweep of Shaw as it won the first matchup 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) in Raleigh on Oct. 4. In the contest, Jessica Hardy (So., Fayetteville, NC) led the FSU attack with seven kills, while Molly Farrington (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) dished out 14 assists and JaMisha Jordan (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) had a team-high 16 digs.

Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) is averaging 3.13 kills per set this season and leads the team with 247. She ranks first in the league and third in the CIAA in kills. Nwokolo is also sixth nationally in hitting percentage. Hardy, Joi Emanuel (Sr., Charlotte, NC) and Joylene Thompson (Jr., Spanish Town, JA) each have over 100 kills on the year. Farrington leads the team with 354 assists while Paige Horne (Jr., Southern Pines, NC) has contributed 291. Jordan’s 61 service aces and 341 digs are tops on the team. She ranks first in the CIAA in digs, digs per set (4.47) and aces per set (0.80). The 0.80 aces per set also put her fourth nationally in that category.

The Lady Broncos will hit the road for their next match this week traveling to Columbia, SC on Wednesday, Oct. 31 to face the Benedict Tigers at 6 p.m. FSU will also look to capture the season sweep of the Tigers as it won the first match 3-0 in Fayetteville on Oct. 16.
