FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos hit the road this weekend for three contests as it travels to participate in the Mount Olive College Classic, which is being hosted by Mount Olive at the Kornegay Arena.
FSU will face the host Mount Olive Trojans at 6 p.m. on Oct. 19 before taking on the Pfeiffer Falcons at 9 a.m. and Armstrong Atlantic Pirates at 1 p.m. on Oct. 20.
The Lady Broncos head into the three-game stretch winners of their last three contests after sweeping Benedict 3-0 on Oct. 16. FSU is currently 17-3 on the season and are 5-2 when playing on the road. It is also 2-1 in neutral site games. Mount Olive holds an 8-11 record, Pfeiffer is 5-14 overall and Armstrong Atlantic posts a 19-4 mark on the season.
This will be the second time that Fayetteville State has faced the Trojans and Pirates on the volleyball court this season. The Lady Broncos defeated Mount Olive 3-0 in Fayetteville on Oct. 2, but fell to Armstrong Atlantic 3-1 on Sept. 21 in Charlotte during a tournament hosted by Johnson C. Smith. It will be the first time in 2012 that FSU has faced the Falcons.
Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) and Joi Emanuel (Sr., Charlotte, NC) have been staples up front for the Fayetteville State attack this season. Nwokolo leads the Lady Broncos with 229 kills on the season, which ties her for second in the CIAA. She also tops the conference in hitting percentage and is second in kills per set. Nwokolo ranks first nationally in hitting percentage. Emanuel leads the league in blocks per set at 1.14. JaMisha Jordan (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) ranks first in the CIAA in service aces per set with 0.83, which also ranks her third nationally. She has a total of 55 service aces on the season, and also leads the team and conference with 288 digs.
Joylene Thompson (Jr., Spanish Town, JA) and Jessica Hardy (So., Fayetteville, NC) also have over 100 kills each on the season as Thompson has recorded 132 and Hardy 126. Molly Farrington (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) has dished out a team-leading 315 assists on the year, while Paige Horne (Jr., Southern Pines, NC) has contributed 265.
Fayetteville State will not be in action for nine days following the Mount Olive College Classic. The Lady Broncos return to action on Monday, Oct. 29 as they host Shaw at 6 p.m. in a CIAA Southern Division contest. FSU currently has a three-win advantage over second-place Livingstone in the division standings with three conference games remaining.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Fayetteville State middle blocker Joi Emanuel (Sr., Charlotte, NC) and middle hitter Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) each recorded 12 kills on Tuesday evening as the Lady Broncos won their sixth match in a row with a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-19, 25-18) over Mount Olive at Felton J. Capel Arena. Fayetteville State improves to 13-2 on the season, while the Trojans fall to 7-9 with the loss.

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Fayetteville State volleyball team dropped its first matches of the 2012 campaign on Friday afternoon to USC-Aiken and Armstrong Atlantic State during day one of the Johnson C. Smith Invitational at Brayboy Gymnasium. The Lady Broncos fell to the Pacers 3-0 (19-25, 21-25, 23-25) and 3-1 to the Pirates (13-25, 25-20, 11-25, 16-25).
