FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fayetteville State middle hitter Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) and head coach Reeshemah Johnson have been honored by the CIAA for their performances on the volleyball court last week, it was announced today by the league office. Nwokolo has been tabbed the CIAA Player of the Week, while Johnson was honored as the CIAA Coach of the Week. It is the second time this season that both have been recognized by the conference.

Nwokolo led the Lady Broncos with 41 kills in three matches played last week. She averaged close to four kills per set, while also tallying eight digs and seven total blocks. The senior set a new career-high for most kills in a five-set match with 27 in a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Virginia State. Nwokolo also recorded 12 kills in a three-set non-conference victory over Mount Olive.

Johnson guided Fayetteville State to a 3-0 record last week and 2-0 mark in conference play. The Lady Broncos fought back for the second straight match with a 3-2 victory against Virginia State, and followed that performance with back-to-back three-set wins over Mount Olive and Shaw. FSU currently sits atop of the CIAA standings with an 11-0 record.
