Hampton, VA - On Tuesday, the conference office announced Fayetteville State University junior middle blocker Chekimbrell Jefferson as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week for the week ending October 6th.

Jefferson, a native of Laurel Hill, NC, racked up 20 kills with a .374 hitting percentage and 16 digs in the three matches this week for the Lady Broncos. Her best performance was against UNC Pembroke, where she had eight kills, 10 digs, and a .200 hitting percentage.

Jefferson, the reigning CIAA Player of the Year, is currently ranked first among the conference leaders in hitting percentage (.345) and second in kills, averaging 3.54 kills per set. As a team, the Lady Broncos are ranked first in the conference in digs (avg. 13.21 per set), second in assists and kills, and third in blocks.

Fayetteville State is 12-15 in the overall standings and 7-1 in the CIAA. The Lady Broncos will host St. Augustine's College in conference volleyball action on Wednesday, October 8th. The match is set to begin at 6:00 pm from the Felton J. Capel Arena.
