Hampton, VA - Player and coach of Fayetteville State University's volleyball team have been recognized as the player and coach of the week by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association CIAA).
Player of the Week Honors went to freshman Chekimbrell Jefferson. The 6-2, middle blocker was recognized for her performance during the week September 9 through September 16. During this period she played in 19 games, recording 95 kills and a .450 hitting percentage. Her best performance came against Elizabeth City State University; where she had a season high 24 kills. In addition, Jefferson had two service aces and six digs. This is the second time the freshman from Laurel Hill, NC has been recognized by the conference office. Jefferson is currently the CIAA leader in hitting percentage (.372), 1st in kills, averaging 3.90 per game and 4th in service aces 0.85 per game.
The Coach of the Week Honors went to Elorine Hill, the seasoned coach of the Lady Broncos. Hill led her Lady Broncos to a 7-0 week and finished the CIAA East-West Roundup undefeated, posting a 5-0 record. The Lady Broncos as of September 20, 2007 11-6 overall, 8-0 CIAA and 3-0 in divisional play. They return to action September 25th when they travel to Clinton, SC to do battle with Presbyterian University.
