FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Fayetteville State middle hitter Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) and head coach Reeshemah Johnson have been honored this week by the CIAA for their performances last week on the volleyball court. Nwokolo has been tabbed the CIAA Player of the Week, while Johnson was selected as the Coach of the Week.
Nwokolo led the Lady Broncos in kills for three of its four games last week, including a season-high 18 in their CIAA opener against Winston-Salem State. She had double-digit kills in three of the four matches, and compiled a total of 52 kills. Nwokolo also added eight service aces, 12 digs and 10 total blocks in the four matches, while also tallying an attack percentage of .587.
Johnson guided Fayetteville State to a 4-0 record after defeating the Rams and sweeping Bowie State, Virginia Union and Lincoln (PA) in a CIAA Roundup last weekend. The Lady Broncos did not lose a single set on the weekend, and have now won five matches in a row to start the season.
This is the first honor of the season for both Nwokolo and Johnson.
