FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State volleyball team will be on the road for four straight contests beginning on Thursday evening with a CIAA match against Livingstone before traveling to Charlotte, NC to take part in a tournament hosted by conference member Johnson C. Smith.

The Lady Broncos will face the Blue Bears at 6 p.m. Thursday night, and will play two games on Friday and one on Saturday in Charlotte. FSU will play USC-Aiken at 1 p.m. and Armstrong Atlantic at 5 p.m. on Friday, and host Johnson C. Smith at 3 p.m. on Saturday in a CIAA game.

The Fayetteville State offense is led by middle hitter Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC), who has led the Lady Bronco attack in the last five games with a total of 64 kills. Molly Farrington (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) has dished out a team-leading 90 assists so far this season, while JaMisha Jordan’s (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) 25 service aces and 84 digs are tops on the team.

USC-Aiken will enter the weekend with a 6-5 record overall and have won three out of its last four games. Armstong Atlantic currently posts an 8-3 record on the season and have won two matches in a row, while Johnson C. Smith is 0-4 on the season and will host Shaw on Sept. 20 prior to the start of the tournament.

Fayetteville State will follow up the four-game road stretch by hosting four straight home matches beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. against St. Augustine’s in CIAA action. The Lady Broncos will then host a CIAA Roundup next weekend and play Elizabeth City State, Chowan and Virginia State.

CHEADLE PACES FAYETTEVILLE STATE IN EASY VICTORY OVER LIVINGSTONE
As the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos warm up before a match, they count their stretches by saying, "One, facial. Two, facial. Three, facial," and so on. While "facial" may not be a technical volleyball term, seasoned players are always on the lookout for one. That special moment - for them, anyway - when they jump high for the kill, swing their arm back and hit the ball with maximum authority right into an opponent's face for the point.
