FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State Lady Bronco volleyball team will look to stay undefeated on the 2012 season as it hosts the UNC Pembroke Braves at Felton J. Capel Arena. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Lady Broncos are currently 5-0 on the season after sweeping Bowie State, Virginia Union and Lincoln (PA) in a CIAA Roundup last weekend while the Braves are 5-7 overall, but have been shutout in their last three contests against Palm Beach Atlantic, Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial.

Fayetteville State went 1-1 last season against UNC Pembroke, winning the first match 3-1 in Fayetteville on Sept. 14 but were then blanked in Pembroke on Oct. 13 by a score of 3-0.

Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Sr., Greensboro, NC) is currently leading the Lady Broncos on offense this season with 66 kills, way ahead of her pace this time last season of 16, after tallying 54 last week in four games played. Jessica Hardy (So., Fayetteville, NC) has contributed 37 kills on the season, while Joylene Thompson (Jr., Spanish Town, JA) has added 33 kills and Joi Emanuel (Sr., Charlotte, NC) 26. Molly Farrington (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) leads the team with 75 assists, and JaMisha Jordan (Jr., Fayetteville, NC) has a team-high 24 service aces and 72 digs.

UNC Pembroke’s offense is led by Sawyer Gray with 104 kills, while Ashlyn Rebok has a team-leading 295 assists. Ashtin Truesdale has 23 service aces on the season, and Jennifer Grunden has 116 digs.

Fayetteville State will return to CIAA action on Thursday, Sept. 20 as it travels to Salisbury, NC to face the Livingstone Blue Bears at 6 p.m.

LADY BRONCOS FALL IN RARE VOLLEYBALL LOSS
UNC Pembroke handed Fayetteville State only its second loss in three weeks after a straight-set victory in volleyball on Thursday night. Led by Chelsea Phillips' 14 kills, the Lady Braves defeated the Lady Broncos by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18.
