The Fayetteville State volleyball squad will begin the CIAA portion of its 2012 schedule at home on Monday night with a 6 p.m. contest against the Winston-Salem State Rams.
The Lady Broncos (1-0) won their season opener at home on Sept. 5th 3-1 over the Claflin Panthers. It will be the last home game for the next two weeks as FSU will play their next seven contests on the road; including a tournament at Johnson C. Smith Sept. 21-22. Winston-Salem State is looking for its first win of the season after starting the season 0-8 with UNC Pembroke, and then in the Wingate Classic and Pfeiffer Invitational.

LADY BRONCOS FALL IN FIVE-SET THRILLER TO WINSTON-SALEM STATE
The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos will have to wait to clinch the CIAA's Southern Division title. And now, they may need some help to do it. In a matchup of the top two teams in the division, Winston-Salem State kept its title hopes alive with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Fayetteville State, putting the two teams in a tie atop the standings with three divisional matches remaining for both teams.

Fayetteville State went 1-1 last season against the Rams, winning the first match 3-0 in Fayetteville before falling in five sets in Winston-Salem.
Senior Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Greensboro, NC) leads the Lady Broncos in kills this season with 14, while fellow senior Joi Emanuel (Charlotte, NC) and junior Joylene Thompson (Spanish Town, JA) have 11 kills each. Juniors Molly Farrington (Fayetteville, NC) and Paige Horne (Southern Pines, NC) each appeared as setters for Fayetteville State in the season opener with Claflin, with Farrington dishing out 25 assists and Horne 19.
Katelyn Sigala leads the Rams offensively this season with 38 kills, while De Ann Smith, Francesca Edgerton and Chelsea Violenes each have 20 kills or more. Kayla Brass has a team-high 86 assists for Winston-Salem State, and Alexandria Brown has 39 assists. The Lady Broncos are hitting .270 as a team this season, while the Rams currently post a .209 hitting percentage.
Fayetteville State, following the Winston-Salem State contest, will participate in a CIAA Roundup this weekend in Lincoln, PA with Virginia Union, Bowie State and Lincoln (PA). The Lady Broncos will face Virginia Union at 1 p.m. and Bowie State at 3 p.m. on Sept. 15, before concluding the Roundup on Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. with Lincoln (PA).
