FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Three Fayetteville State volleyball players have been selected to the 2012 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) Volleyball All-State Teams for the College Division, it was announced on Thursday afternoon. The 2012 NCCSIA College Division All-State Teams is comprised of fourteen student-athletes representing seven different North Carolina Universities and Colleges.

Seniors Ifeyinwa Nwokolo and Joi Emanuel, and junior JaMisha Jordan were recognized on the All-State Teams for the College Division. Nwokolo was named All-State First Team, while Emanuel and Jordan earned All-State Second Team recognition. All three players have been named to the NCCSIA All-State Team for the first time in their careers.

Nwokolo, Emanuel and Jordan were part of five players from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) to be selected to the Volleyball All-State Teams for the College Division. Chowan’s Callie Armistead (First Team) and Karina Monrow (Second Team) were also honored on the All-State Teams.

Nwokolo played in 32 matches during her senior campaign. This past season, she became the fourth player for FSU in the last six seasons to be named CIAA Player of the Year. She received CIAA First Team All-Conference, CIAA All-Tournament Team, Honorable Mention AVCA Atlantic All-Region Team and NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team honors. The middle hitter was ranked third in the conference in kills with 351 and tenth nationally in hitting percentage at .385. She has also been named to the 2009 CIAA All-Rookie Team as well as 2010 and 2011 CIAA First Team All-Conference. The Greensboro, NC native finishes her career at Fayetteville State with 116 matches played and 797 kills.

Emanuel played in 34 matches at the middle blocker position last season and led the conference with 143 total blocks. She was named CIAA Second Team All-Conference, CIAA All-Tournament Team and CIAA Tournament Most Valuable Player last season. Emanuel also led the CIAA, and ranked 27th nationally, in blocks per set with 1.20. She earned three CIAA All-Conference Team and two CIAA All-Tournament Team accolades during her career. She played in 102 matches during her four-year career; and finished with 636 kills and 293 total blocks.

Jordan appeared in all 34 matches last season at the libero position. She earned several postseason honors including CIAA First Team All-Conference and CIAA All-Tournament Team. Jordan led the team with 578 digs and 78 service aces; and also led the CIAA in both categories. The Fayetteville native ranked fourth nationally in aces per set (.66) and 51st in digs per set (4.86). During her three seasons with the Lady Broncos, Jordan has played in 73 matches, and compiled 831 digs and 159 service aces. She has been selected to the 2009 CIAA All-Rookie Team; as well as two CIAA All-Conference Teams and one CIAA All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Broncos captured their fourth CIAA Championship in program history in 2012. FSU won a school record 28 games and earned a bid into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament in Wheeling, WV. Fayetteville State went unbeaten in conference play at 16-0 for the second time in school history.

Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.

Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.

The NCCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball.
