FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos continued to keep their hopes of capturing the CIAA Southern Division title alive with a dismantling of Shaw in volleyball on Wednesday night.
Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) had nine kills while Joi Emanuel (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) added seven kills and five blocks as the Lady Broncos romped past the Lady Bears in straight sets.
Fayetteville State (17-12, 12-3, 8-1) won by the scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-8 in one of its most lopsided matches of the season, sweeping the regular season series from the Lady Bears (3-16, 3-15).
JaMisha Jordan (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) had a match-high 25 assists as the Lady Broncos won their third straight match. Jordan added a game-high four service aces while chipping in six digs. Octavia Wynn (Jr., Hope Mills, N.C.) had six kills to go with two blocks while Decausha McLean (Fr., Laurinburg, N.C.) had a team-high eight digs.
Shaye Walton led Shaw with six kills while Crystal Gordon had eight digs.
Fayetteville State remains tied with Winston-Salem State atop the Southern Division standings. The Lady Broncos host Johnson C. Smith at 6 p.m. on Friday in the regular season finale before traveling to the CIAA Tournament next weekend.
