PEMBROKE, N.C. - UNC Pembroke handed Fayetteville State only its second loss in three weeks after a straight-set victory in volleyball on Thursday night.

Led by Chelsea Phillips' 14 kills, the Lady Braves defeated the Lady Broncos by the scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18.

Octavia Wynn (So., Hope Mills, N.C.) led Fayetteville State (15-10) with six kills while Decausha McLean (Fr., Laurinburg, N.C.) added a team-high 13 digs. Nikita Cheadle (Fr., Hope Mills, N.C.) added 10 digs for the Lady Broncos, who last lost two weeks ago to nationally ranked Wingate. JaMisha Jordan (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) led Fayetteville State with 19 assists.

LaToya Harvin (Fr., Bell Glade, Fla.), Joi Emanuel (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) and Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) each had three blocks to pace the Lady Broncos.

Fayetteville State returns to CIAA Southern Division play at Winston-Salem State on Oct. 18. The match will begin at 6 p.m.
