Final Stats

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Lady Broncos extended it home volleyball win streak with a 3-0 sweep of Shaw University in Felton J. Capel Arena. Fayetteville State (9-5 overall, 7-3 CIAA and 3-1 in the Southern Division) won the three sets 25-19, 25-20 and 25-15. The home streak improves to 26 games.

Shavon Shaw (Bethel, NC) led the way with 10 kills off of 21 total attacks. DaQuondra Cuthbertson (Spencer, NC) gave aid with eight kills on 16 attacks. Molly Farrington and Jessica Hardy, both of Fayetteville, NC, totaled 18 and 11 set-assists, respectfully. JaMisha Jordan dug up 17 saves.

The Lady Bears (1-13 overall, 0-8 CIAA and 0-4 in the division) were led by Deja Simpson and Sashane Watson; who finished with six kills each. Watson had 33 total attacks, nine digs and two block assists. Simpson had 16 attacks and six digs.

Joylene Thompson (Spanish Town, JA) and Tevyn Jones (High Point, NC) led the first set with three kills each while the Lady Broncos won 25-19. Jordan had five digs and Samira Luis (Willemstad, Curacao) scored three service aces. The Lady Broncos had a total of 11 kills on 32 attacks compared to the Bears 8 kills on 24 attacks.

Cuthbertson led the second set with three kills on six attacks with the 25-20 victory. Eleven errors were made by the Lady Broncos; which help Shaw finish within five points before the set ended.

FSU regrouped for the sweep with 17 kills on 33 attacks in the third set. Shavon Shaw put down six kills on seven attacks. Cuthbertson and Luis contributed three kills each while Paige Horne (Southern Pines, NC) played her only set with three service aces and six assists.



Fayetteville State will travel to Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, October 10th for a 6:00 pm matchup with the Lady Golden Bulls.
