Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos volleyball team began competition in conference this season on a winning note by sweeping Saint Augustine's College in three games (30-16, 30-13, 30-24) in Capel Arena Friday evening. The win upped the Lady Broncos to 4-6 for this young season, 1-0 in CIAA action and 1-0 in the CIAA Western Division. Fayetteville State University junior outside hitter Shaita Gidrey (Jacksonville, NC) knocked down eight kills and teammates Chekimbrell Jefferson (Laurel Hill, NC) and freshman outside hitter Samantha Meeks teamed up with six and five kills respectively in the victory. Jefferson also had four of the team's nine service aces. Freshman Achari Mainor (Antioch, CA) paced the Lady Broncos with 22 set assists and senior defensive specialist Sha'Quana Veney (Richmond, VA) had 13 digs. The Lady Bronco will have little time to celebrate their win. They travel to Charlotte, NC to do battle with the Johnson C. Smith University Lady Golden Bulls, Monday, September 10, 2007 at 6 pm inside Brayboy Gym.
