Fayetteville State won the 1996 CIAA Volleyball Championships. A first in university history. The Lady Broncos finished the season with a 23-9 overall record, a 14-4 conference record, and a 9-3 divisional record. FSU won its second crown in 1998 with a 22-14 and a 15-1 conference record. The one loss was to a divisional opponent. The FSU volleyball program reached its greatest plateau in 2007. The Lady Broncos went undefeated in conference play with a perfect 13-0 record. The team captured its third championship crown and had its first ever NCAA Division II playoff berth. The team had seven student-athletes on the all-conference team while Coach Hill received her fourth Coach of the Year Award. Chekimbrell Jefferson won the conference player of the year award; which was also a first for the program. Elorine Hill also won the CIAA Coach of the Year award in 1995, 1996, and 1998. In her career, she has coached 41 All-CIAA performers, 18 All-Tournament performers, three tournament MVPs, and one player of the year. Since joining the Athletics' staff in 1991, Coach Hill has coached men's and women's cross country teams and was an assistant women's basketball coach from 1992-1995. She is also a lecturer in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Human Services. A 1987 graduate of Saint Augustine's College, Hill earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and a Master's in Education Administration from Fayetteville State University. While a Falcon track & field athlete under the infamous George Williams, Coach Hill was an All-American and All-CIAA performer in the shot put. |
