April 22, 2007 Ettrick, VA - At Virginia State University's tennis court, there was a big celebration carried out by the Lady Broncos and their Tennis Coach Elorine Hill. What's reason the Lady Broncos were doing cartwheel and shouting out? They had just won the CIAA 6th Annual Tennis Championship. By winning the title, it was a prophecy by Coach Hill that came true. She stated the tennis title belongs at Fayetteville State University, and her team proved the statement to be true. The CIAA Women's Tennis Championship crown is the fifth in six years for the Lady Broncos. The only other CIAA school to win the title was Shaw University in 2006. In winning the title, five of six FSU's singles seeds won individual championship. The No. 3, which is played by sophomore LeJacquelyn Artis was not able to compete because of an ankle injury she suffered in the semifinals.
