LADY BRONCOS TENNIS SUFFERS 7-2 LOSS TO WINSTON-SALEM STATE IN SEASON FINALE

Winston-Salem, NC – The Fayetteville State University women’s tennis team dropped a divisional match 7-2 to Winston-Salem State University on April 14th in the regular season finale at the WSSU Tennis Courts. FSU concluded the regular season at 3-10 overall and in the CIAA.

The Lady Broncos fell behind 3-0 after hard fought efforts in doubles competition. WSSU held a 3-0 advantage going into the singles matches.

Senior Selena Cox (Wilmington, NC) won by retirement against Alexus Morgan in the number two singles spot. Freshman Tajah Clark (Clayton, NC) defeated Zakia Spencer in two sets (6-0, 7-5) in the fifth singles flight.

Sophomore Staisha Cain (Wilson, NC), sophomore Destiney Jordan (Manhattan, NY), freshman Brittany Doss (Angier, NC), and junior Asia Potts (Rock Hill, SC) competed in the number one, three, four, and six singles spots, respectively.

Fayetteville State will enter the 2017 CIAA Tennis Championships as the Southern No. 4 seed. Matches will be held on the campus of Bowie State University in Bowie, MD. Competition begins Thursday, April 20th.
