FAYETTEVILLE, NC –
The Fayetteville State women’s tennis team wrapped up its regular season on Saturday afternoon by splitting two matches on the road against the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls and Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears. The Lady Broncos fell in the first match to Johnson C. Smith 8-1 and responded to win at Livingstone 4-3.


Brittney Williams (Jr., Greensboro, NC) continued her impressive play on the singles side defeating JCSU's Keiana Love in straight sets at No. 2 singles 7-6, 6-3.

Following the match with Johnson C. Smith, FSU made the short trip north to face Livingstone. Fayetteville State edged the Lady Blue Bears 4-3 with the deciding matches coming at the first three singles positions.


FSU and Livingstone split the two doubles matches and went into singles competition tied 1-1. The No. 1 doubles combination of Williams and Samantha Ledbetter (So., Fayetteville, NC) defeated Corbin Bennett and Garreesa Henry 8-3.

Fayetteville State captured the match courtesy of its top three singles players in Ledbetter, Williams and Taylor Norris (So., Grand Island, NE). All three won their matches in straight sets to give FSU the season-ending victory. Ledbetter, playing at No. 1 singles, won her match against Bennett 6-0, 6-0; and Williams followed with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Henry at No. 2 singles. In No. 3 singles, Norris was victorious over Shannon Davis 6-1, 6-2.
