The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University (17-4; 14-0 CIAA; 7-0 Western Division) beat Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears 9-0 and 8-1 en route to their sixth-consecutive CIAA regular season and Western Division Championships. "I'm very proud of the accomplishments the team made this season," said Coach Elorine Hill, last year's CIAA Tennis Coach of the Year. "We have accomplished one of our three goals we set for ourselves at the start of the season. With this under our belt, we can proceed towards our second goal - winning the CIAA Tournament. Winning the championship did have a setback. The Lady Broncos streak at shutting out their opponents came to an end at 16 when they lost a singles contest to Livingstone in their second match of the evening. The Lady Blue Bears avoided the sweep when Shantrice Chapel of Livingstone, playing in the No. 3 position against LeJacquelyn Artis, won 9-7. Artis had a 13 match winning streak in conference play. Artis is the first Lady Bronco to lose a conference match this season match. Doubles Results 1. Ines Nieves/LeJacquelyn Artis (FSU) def Shantrice Chapel/Jocquise Staten (LC) 8-3 Singles Results 1.
