LADY BRONCOS TENNIS FALLS 9-0 TO SHAW IN HOME FINALE

Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville State University women’s tennis team suffered a 9-0 divisional loss to rival Shaw University in the home season finale on Tuesday, April 11th at the Capel Tennis Complex. FSU moves to 3-8 overall and in conference, while the Lady Bears improve to 18-2 overall and 11-1 in the CIAA.

Sophomore Staisha Cain (Wilson, NC) fell in the number one singles spot (8-0) to Daniela Vanko. Senior Selena Cox (Wilmington, NC) lost to Teodora Jovanovic (8-1) in the second singles position. Cox received her senior recognition prior to the start of the final home match of the year.

Sophomore Destiney Jordan (Manhattan, NY) and freshman Brittany Doss (Angier, NC) both suffered defeat in the third and fourth singles spots (8-0), respectively. Freshman Tajah Clark (Clayton, NC) and junior Asia Potts (Rock Hill, SC) were outmatched with 8-0 losses in the fifth and sixth singles positions, respectively.

The Lady Broncos were swept in all three doubles flights. Shaw won the three matches for a 9-0 victory following doubles competition.

Fayetteville State will return to the courts to compete against Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, April 13th. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Coleman-Cuthbertson Tennis Courts on the campus of JCSU.
