RALEIGH, N.C. - The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos' tennis team picked up two victories and narrowly missed another as it completed the second session of the CIAA Divisional roundup over the weekend.

Fayetteville State picked up convincing victories over Livingstone (7-1) and St. Augustine's (5-2), but just missed beating Johnson C. Smith in a 5-4 loss.

The Lady Broncos, who still have a Southern Division match against St. Augustine's to be made up after rain forced the season's first meeting to be postponed, now stand 6-12 overall and 6-9 in the CIAA.

Fayetteville State, which hosts UNC Pembroke at 1 p.m. on April 12, is still in the running for one of the top four spots in the division standings to qualify for the CIAA Tournament later this month.

Following roundup play this weekend, No. 3 seed Samantha Ledbetter (Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.) improved to 11-6 in singles matches this season, and 10-4 in CIAA play. Varice Love (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) an All-CIAA selection a year ago and the league's Rookie of the Year last season, improved to 7-7 in singles matches this season and 6-5 in league play.

The Lady Broncos' doubles teams of Love and Brittney Williams (So., Greensboro, N.C.) improved to 8-10 overall and built a winning record in league play with an 8-7 mark.
