LADY BRONCOS TENNIS FALLS ON THE ROAD 9-0 TO SHAW

Raleigh, NC – The Fayetteville State University women’s tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to divisional rival Shaw University on Tuesday, March 21st at the Worthdale Park. FSU moves to 1-4 overall and in conference, while the Lady Bears improve to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the CIAA.

The Lady Broncos were swept in all three doubles flights. Shaw won the three matches by scores of 8-0 for a 3-0 lead going into singles competition.

Sophomore Staisha Cain (Wilson, NC) fell in the number one singles spot (6-0, 6-0) to Daniela Vanko. Senior Selena Cox (Wilmington, NC) lost to Teodora Jovanovic (6-1, 6-0) in the second singles position. Senior Vanaysha Graham (Tabor City, NC) and sophomore Destiney Jordan (Manhattan, NY) suffered defeat in the third and fourth singles spots (6-0, 6-0), respectively.

Freshmen Tajah Clark (Clayton, NC) and Brittany Doss (Angier, NC) battled but also suffered losses in the fifth and sixth singles positions (6-1, 6-0), respectively.

Fayetteville State will return home to compete against Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, March 23rd. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Capel Tennis Complex.
