Fayetteville State Women’s Tennis Defeats Livingstone, 6-3

Salisbury, NC – The Fayetteville State women’s tennis team defeated Livingstone 6-3 on Friday for its first win of the season. The Broncos improve to 1-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The victory also marks FSU first CIAA Southern Divisional win.

Brittany Doss (Angier, NC) defeated Samone Mitchell 2-0 (6-3 and 6-3) in singles play. Chynna Hunt (Charleston, SC) won her singles match against Brianna Hunter with a 2-1 score. Hunt won 6-3 and 6-4. Hunter won the first set 6-2.

Staisha Cain (Wilson, NC) defeated Mariah Mason by forfeit and Amber Gladden (Danville, VA) won by default for Fayetteville State’s 4-2 advantage from singles play.

In doubles-play, Cain and Kayla Williams (Fayetteville, NC) defeated Mariah Mason and Maggie Henderson, 6-5. Henderson defeated Williams 6-4 and 6-2 in singles play. Mason forfeited her singles match to Cain.

The Blue Bears Hunter and Mitchell defeated Deanna Butler (Fayetteville, NC) and Charlie Daniels (Fayetteville, NC), 8-5.

Doss and Hunt won by default.

Fayetteville State will travel to Elizabeth City, NC for the CIAA Tennis Roundup. The Broncos will take on Virginia Union, Bowie State, and host Elizabeth City State.
