FSU Falls To Queens (NC) In Non-Conference Tennis Action

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State women’s tennis team fell to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals 5-0 on Friday afternoon in non-conference tennis action at Mazarick Park. The two teams competed in a best of five match with Queens winning three matches and two by default. The Lady Broncos fall to 0-5 on the season while the Royals improve to 4-2 overall.
Queens captured the doubles points after winning two matches and one by default. The No. 1 doubles combination of Samantha Ledbetter and Taylor Norris fell in their match to Christina Rustscheff and Erin Williams 8-1. Octavia Wynn and Joylene Thompson, playing at No. 2 doubles, lost to Morgan Roberts and Amanda Poole 8-0. Farina Rafiq and Paige Earnest won their No. 3 doubles contest by default.
The Royals also won both singles matches with one coming by default. Rafiq defeated Octavia Tann at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0. Earnest was victorious by default in the No. 6 singles match.
Fayetteville State will return to the court on Thursday, Mar. 7 when it hosts Saint Augustine’s at 1 p.m. in conference play.
