Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State University Athletics has named Jacqlyn Stickley the head softball coach for the upcoming 2014-15 season. Stickley will lead the Lady Broncos' softball program after serving one season as an assistant coach for FSU softball.
Stickley, a native of Riverside, CA, played softball and obtained her education from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. At Hastings, Stickley showcased talent at every position, but mainly performed as a catcher and earned the role of team captain. She also played two seasons at McCook Community College in McCook, NE.
"My goal is to enhance and sustain the program to a championship caliber, as well as help these student-athletes become their very best as people and competitors," said Stickley.
Stickley obtained bachelor's degrees in both Business Administration and Sport Management from Hastings in 2013.
During her time as the Lady Broncos' assistant coach, Stickley utilized her playing experiences to develop the FSU pitchers and catchers.
"Coach Stickley has a strong understanding of collegiate softball and a great rapport with our student-athletes," said athletic director Dr. Edward McLean. "I'm confident that she will be an essential component as we continue to advance Fayetteville State softball."
In addition to coaching, Stickley serves as administration director at the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society. Stickley resides in Fayetteville and she is the proud dog owner of a Staffordshire bull terrier named Buddy.
