April 20, 2007 Ettrick, VA - Elizabeth City State University Lady Vikings stay alive in the 2007 CIAA Softball Tournament by pummeling Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos 17-1 at Ettrick's Sports Complex, Friday, April 20, 2007. The loss ended the Lady Broncos quest of capturing the title, something they have not done since the 2001 season. Cekea Cox went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a double and two RBI's and Shane Holley added a home run and a RBI as the Lady Vikings advanced in the loser bracket. ECSU took command in the first inning, scoring nine runs on three hits and four Lady Broncos' errors. The Lady Broncos came out sluggish and could only manage two hits against ECSU's pitcher Alicia Graham who struck out seven FSU's batters. The Lady Broncos helped the Lady Vikings by committing eight errors and Sade Morris issued eight base-on-balls. FSU concluded the 2007 season with a 9-28 overall record.
