ALEX WHITE OF FAYETTEVILLE STATE NAMED CIAA SOFTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Charlotte, NC - Fayetteville State University sophomore utility Alex White (Fayetteville, NC) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 1, 2017. Accolades were voted on by CIAA Sports Information Directors Association and the Softball Coaches Association. 

White saved a homerun and doubled up runner at first base in the road divisional doubleheader against Winston-Salem State. She also had seven putouts on eight total chances with a 1.000 fielding percentage.

In addition to the recognition for White, the following student-athletes were also elected for honors: 

Pitcher of the Week - Kayla Robins, Chowan 
Offensive Player of the Week - Karrina Gooding, Virginia Union 
Coach of the Week - Dot Neal, Saint Augustine's

Fayetteville State returns to the field on Tuesday, April 4th against Mount Olive University. First pitch in the non-conference doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Mount Olive, NC.
