FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State softball team wraps up its non-conference schedule on Thursday afternoon hosting the Salem International Tigers in a doubleheader at Seabrook Park. Game one of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. followed by game two at 5 p.m. FSU will return to conference play on Saturday when it travels to face Winston-Salem State.

The Lady Broncos extended their conference winning streak to seven games on Tuesday as they swept Johnson C. Smith by scores of 8-2 and 8-5. Fayetteville State has won eight of its last nine games and is looking to end its non-conference season on a high note.

Spencer Embler (Jr., Thomasville, NC) leads FSU this season both offensively and on the mound. Embler is currently hitting .418 with one home run and a team-high 24 RBI. She also leads the team with 38 hits, eight doubles and 49 total bases. Maya Washington (Jr., Red Springs, NC) and Sencerae Locklear (So., Fairmont, NC) are also hitting over .300 this season for the Lady Broncos. Washington has a .351 average to go with nine doubles and two triples; while Locklear posts a .346 average with two home runs.

Embler tops the FSU pitching staff with a 3.90 ERA and three shutouts; and is tied for the team-lead with five wins. She has thrown eight complete games in 13 starts. Kristen Bell (Fr., Hubert, NC) also has five wins on the season and has a team-best 13 complete games.

Salem International comes in with a 7-13 overall record and is 6-9 in road games. Katie Mangold leads the Tigers on offense with a .403 average and five home runs; and is second with 16 RBI. Hayley Wilson has a team-leading 17 RBI and is tied for second with four home runs. Salem International has four players with .300 or better averages.

Isabel Villalobos leads the Tigers on the mound with a 4-6 record in ten starts. She has tossed a team-high 55.1 innings; and tallied eight complete games and one shutout. Brittni Hall has a 3.16 ERA in 42.2 innings of work; she has pitched a complete game in all five of her starts this season.

Fayetteville State heads to Winston-Salem State for a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in its final road games of the season.
