FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Fayetteville State softball team returns to action for the first time in 15 days beginning on Saturday morning as it travels to Kissimmee, FL to participate in the Rebel Spring Games. The Lady Broncos will play ten games over the course of five days as they wrap up their final regular season tournament of 2013. FSU is one of 29 Division II teams taking part in the Rebel Spring Games.

Fayetteville State last played during the Shaw Softball Challenge (Feb. 15-17) in Raleigh. The Lady Broncos only played two games at the event as snow prevented the final two days from taking place. FSU went 0-2 falling to Seton Hill and West Virginia State.

The Lady Broncos will play two games each starting on Saturday, Mar. 2 when they face Concordia-St. Paul (9 a.m.) and Northern State (11 a.m.). FSU follows on Mar. 3 with Wheeling Jesuit (3 p.m.) and Lake Erie (5 p.m.); Lake Erie (9 a.m.) and Walsh (1 p.m.) on Mar. 4; Walsh (9 a.m.) and Rockhurst (11 a.m.) on Mar. 5; and Saginaw Valley State (1 p.m.) and Northern State (3 p.m.) on Mar. 6.

Fayetteville State is looking to capture its first victory of the season after starting 0-8. FSU has played its last six games on the road after opening the 2013 season with a doubleheader at home. The Lady Broncos will return to Seabrook Park on Mar. 19 when they host West Chester in a doubleheader.

Maya Washington (Jr., Red Springs, NC) and Spencer Embler (Jr., Thomasville, NC) pace the FSU offense with identical .333 averages while Embler leads the team with four RBI. Embler has also made her mark on the mound tossing two complete games and compiling a 3.43 ERA in 21.0 innings pitched.

The Lady Broncos, following the Rebel Spring Games, return to the diamond Mar. 9-10 when they travel to Murfreesboro, NC to participate in their first CIAA Roundup of the season. Fayetteville State will face Elizabeth City State, host team Chowan and Virginia State during the two days. FSU was supposed to open conference play during the Shaw Softball Challenge, but was unable due to weather.
