FAYETTEVILLE STATE SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES 2017 SCHEDULE

Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville State University softball team has announced their 2017 schedule, which features eight home doubleheaders at Lamon Street Park against non-conference and conference opponents. FSU will open their 38-game slate on February 4th at Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC.

The Lady Broncos will play both eight doubleheaders on the road as well as at home under third year head coach Jackie Stickley. FSU finished the 2016 season with a record of 22-19 overall, 13-3 in conference, and 9-1 in the division. Fayetteville State captured the 2016 Southern Division title and closed out the regular season winning their last 11 games, including nine consecutive victories against Southern Division opponents.

Junior catcher Shi-Cara Goins (Asheboro, NC), senior designated hitter HaLee Knowles (Wallace, NC), senior utility Zoe Howard (Hampstead, NC) and junior pitcher Carley Green (Fayetteville, NC) all return to the roster after earning 2016 All-CIAA Softball Honors.

FSU will cross state line to open the season with a doubleheader against Claflin before hosting their first home doubleheader versus St. Andrews University on Wednesday, February 15th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by game two at 3:00 p.m. The Lady Broncos will remain at home for a Sunday, February 19th matchup against Davis and Elkins College.


 

 

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up has been scheduled for March 17-19 in Charlotte, NC (Nevin Park), where Fayetteville State will take on Bowie State on Mar. 17 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a 4:30 p.m. game against Virginia Union. FSU will matchup with Chowan and Virginia State on Mar. 18 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. before concluding the round-up with games versus Lincoln (PA) at 10:00 a.m. and Elizabeth City State at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 19.

The Lady Broncos will return home to host Talladega College on Wednesday, March 22nd at 2:00 p.m. followed with doubleheaders the next week on March 29th against regional rival UNC Pembroke at 3:00 p.m.

Fayetteville will open division play on the road at rival Winston-Salem State on April 8th. FSU host Shaw on Saturday, April 22nd at 2:00 p.m. and will conclude the regular season with Senior Day on Sunday, April 23rd against Saint Augustine’s.

The 2017 CIAA Softball Championships will be held on April 27-29 in Petersburg, VA. All home games will be played at Lamon Street Park located on 121 Lamon Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
