Final Stats

Petersburg, VA - Fayetteville State fell behind 6-0 after the first two innings and ended the 2009 softball season with a 9-1 loss to Bowie State in the conference championship game. Bowie State will enter the record books with its third conference crown in a row. Catcher Alicia Frank, pitcher Kristen Britt, and centerfielder Dominique Mills were named to the CIAA All-Tournament Team.

In Petersburg, VA, the Lady Broncos (26-25 overall) scored its only run of the day when Alicia Frank singled to left field, scoring LaTona Gatling. FSU finished the day with seven hits and five errors. Rakhee Smith collected three hits while April Branch had two. Tracy Brighter relieved starting pitcher Kristen Britt after 1.2 innings.

Bowie State (24-6) added two runs in the bottom of the third and ended the game early on a triple by Tiffany Toney which scored Danielle McClay from first. Toney was named the Championship game MVP.

With the Bowie State win, the Lady Bulldogs advance to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals.
