Fayetteville State Moves to 2nd in the Division with a 15-1 & 12-0 Sweep over Livingstone

Fayetteville, N.C. - Fayetteville State Softball defeated Livingstone 15-1 and 12-0 in a key CIAA Southern Division doubleheader at the Lamon Street Park in Fayetteville, N.C. The Broncos celebrated four seniors in-between games.

HaLee Knowles, Shi-Cara Goins, Brittany Lee, and Maggie Smith were introduced to fans while being escorted by family members.

Knowles, an infielder from Wallace, N.C., collected two doubles and three RBI with two runs scored.

Goins, a catcher and third baseman from Ramseur, N.C., had four hits and five RBI. She crossed home twice and hit a double.

Lee is a shortstop from Newton, N.J. who had a heck of a defensive game against the Blue Bears. She had six putouts and two assists. Lee even helped turn a double-play.

Maggie Smith, a hometown standout from Cape Fear, HS, was one of two Broncos with five hits in the two games. Smith hit three doubles and RBI. She had five runs and seven stolen bases.

The Broncos improved to second in the CIAA Southern Divison with a 3-1 record and a 6-4 conference standing. FSU is 7-21 overall. Livingstone is winless in 18 games played.

Courtney Pierre (Newbern, N.C.) also finished with five hits. She collected two RBI and scored five times with six stolen bases.

Fayetteville State will play its final home game on Wednesday, April 18 in a 1 & 3 pm doubleheader against Johnson C. Smith. The Golden Bulls is 2-4 in the division.
