North Carolina Central University cruised to a doubleheader sweep over the Lady Broncos 21-1 and 13-2 at Durham's Hillside High School to remain unbeaten in conference play. The Lady Eagles improved to 24-8 overall and 16-0 in the CIAA while FSU dropped to 4-22 overall and 4-8 in conference action.
In the first game, the Lady Eagles jumped to a 9-1 lead on seven hits in the first inning. The hit-and-run attack continued in the second inning on three runs, then six runs in the third on five hits and three runs in the fourth on two hits. NCCU collected 14 hits, including two homers, four doubles and a triple in the one-sided win. FSU was led by Erica Jester with two hits including an RBI double in the first inning.
In the second game, NCCU's Kristen Schooler held the Lady Broncos to one hit as she posted a 13-1 win; striking out five FSU' batters. The only Lady Bronco to get a base hit was Yvonne Alvarez. Her double in the second inning drove in the Lady Bronco's only score of the game.
