Dominique Mills drove in three runs and went 3-for-4 as Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos posted a 16-7 win over the Lady Tigers of Saint Paul's College in the first game of their doubleheader at Saunders Athletic Field.
Shatia Gidrey helped her cause in winning her third game of the season by driving in three runs on a double in the first inning. Gidrey went 3-for-3 at the plate. The Lady Broncos pounded 10 hits for 13 runs in the first inning to coast to their third win of the 2007 season. FSU's leading batters were Ariel McNair was 3-for-4, a double, four RBI's and scored three-times, and DeOndra Peterson collected three hits on three trips to the plate and scored three runs.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Lady Broncos hitting attacked continued and they collected 10 hits, four of which were triples as they sweep by the Lady Tigers 9-0. Collecting the triples were DeOandra Peterson, Ariel McNair, and two by the winning pitcher Sade Morris. Morris pitched five innings, giving up one hit in the win, her first of the season. Gathering the hits for FSU were Mills 3-for-3 with a RBI; Morris 2-for-3, two RBI's, two triples; and Shatia Gidrey 2-for-2 and a RBI. The double-header win by FSU was the first this season and improved their record to 4-20 overall, 4-6 CIAA and 2-2 Western Division.
