Fayetteville, NC - As the campus quiets for the start of spring break, Fayetteville State University hosted Glenville State College in a double-header game of softball. The Pioneers (4-9 overall) won 7-2. The highlight between both games came in the first inning of game one. April Branch hit a homerun over the centerfield fence for two RBI's. April Branch can now scratch a notch onto her bat with the first homerun of the season. Prior to her feat, LaTonia Gatling singled to right-center to reach first and later advance to second off of FSU's second batter. The play gave the Broncos a 2-1 lead going into the second inning. Glenville State tied the game 2-2 in the third inning and rallied in the fifth inning with two more runs to go ahead 4-2. The Pioneers added to the lead with a one run in the sixth and two in the seventh. Starting pitcher Tracy Brighter stuck out nine batters but gave up eight hits. Three reached base on balls.
