Fayetteville, NC - The Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University showcased tons of improvement from the 2007 season in their softball exhibition victories over Southeastern Community College on Monday, February 11th.

The first game came to a close after six innings with an 8-0 win for the Lady Broncos. Freshman pitcher Alicia Frank threw a perfect for FSU, giving up no hits and no runs to the Lady Rams of SECC.

In the second game, Fayetteville State scored at least one run every inning at bat in the seven inning contest en route to a 17-10 victory over Southeastern. The Lady Broncos put up three runs in each of the first three innings. In the bottom of the 5th, FSU scored four runs. Senior catcher Shatia Gidrey earned a RBI with a double to left field that advanced freshman Demarius Pankey to third base and brought home junior Dominique Mills.

Still in the 5th, sophomore DeOndra Peterson reached first base and Gidrey crossed homeplate on a throwing error by the Lady Rams' shortstop. Sophomore Danisha Lyons came up to bat and tripled to right field, bringing home Peterson.

Fayetteville State closed out the contest at the top of the 7th giving up one hit, but no runs or errors in the inning.

The Lady Broncos will continue to tune up for the regular season when they face the Lady Rams of Southeastern Community College again on Saturday, February 16th. FSU will travel to Whiteville, NC for the exhibition match-up that is scheduled for 12 pm.
