Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State University cheerleaders Whitney Griffin and Jasmine McCrae have been selected to the 2015-16 All-CIAA Cheer Squad. The two standout Cheer Phi Smoov cheerleaders along with the other All-CIAA selections will be introduced during the "Super Saturday" festivities on February 27th at Time Warner Cable Arena during the 2016 CIAA Basketball Tournament.

Griffin, a senior and hails from Richmond, VA cheers as a member of Cheer Phi Smoov White Squad. She is working towards the completion of her degree in Forensic Science with a grade point average over 3.5. Griffin is a co-captain on this year’s cheer squad. Her Cheer Phi Smoov number and name are #58-Courageous.

“Whitney is an absolute leader in and out of uniform,” said Cheer Phi Smoov head coach Dr. LaWanda Miller. “She is a leader in the classroom, on campus by holding leadership position, in philanthropy by participating in all of our community service projects, and a leader in patriotism as a servicewoman to our country in the Army National Guard. I do not think our team could have chosen a better co-captain for the 2015-16 season.”

McCrae is a junior and native of Rowland, NC. This is her second year of cheering experience with Cheer Phi Smoov White Squad. She is majoring in Psychology. McCrae has the Cheer Phi Smoov number and name of #57-Eager.

“In concert with her Cheer Phi name, Jasmine is always eager to please and help out wherever necessary,” stated Miller. “She easily stands out as one of Cheer Phi’s most spirited and enthusiastic cheerleaders on the sidelines. Besides being a standout spirit leader, she is extraordinary team motivator. I would not trade her for anything. I am so proud.”



The All-CIAA Cheerleading Squad consists of two superlative student-athletes from each institution in the conference chosen for their leadership and athletic abilities contributing success of the team.
