Dr. LaWanda D. Miller is a Texas native who joined the Fayetteville State family in 1994 and became FSU's Head Cheerleading Coach in the spring of 1998.
The Bronco cheerleaders of FSU are better known as "Cheer Phi Smoov" and, under the direction of Dr. Miller, have solidified their spot as one of the best squads in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Miller has completed National Cheerleading Safety Certification courses from the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) and National Cheerleading Judges Certification courses from Cheer Ltd.
She also has two Certificates of Award for successfully completing a full complement of courses and training at the National Cheerleading Coaches' Conference from Cheer Ltd.
Dr. Miller is an active member of the CIAA Cheerleading Coaches Association (CCCA) and National Federation of Interscholastic Spirit Coaches Association (NFISA), and the National Council for Pay Equity (NCPE) for women in Washington, DC.
Her message to young people is "Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference."
Currently, Dr. Miller serves as the Budget Officer for the Chancellor's Office and Department of Athletics at Fayetteville State University.
She holds a doctorate degree in business administration from Argosy University-Sarasota, master's and bachelor's degree in business administration from FSU, a BRIDGES academic leadership program certificate of completion from UNC-Chapel Hill, and is a graduate of John Casablanca's Modeling and Career Center in Raleigh, NC.
Dr. Miller spends her cheerleading off season mentoring new high school and college coaches, judging middle and high school cheerleading tryouts, attending cheerleading conferences and dance clinics, and hosting summer cheerleading camps.
