FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The defending CIAA Bowling Champions don't just replace players. They reload. Despite being down two bowlers who were critical parts of the "Fab Five's" run to the league title a year ago, the Lady Broncos had two members of the team named to CIAA honors recently. Kiara Reid (Jr., Rocky Mount, N.C.) was named as the CIAA Southern Division's Bowler of the Month and Crystal Mujica (Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.) was named as the division's Rookie of the Month following league play in November. Reid, who enjoyed a 167.8 average, and Mujica, who had a 169.5 average, led the Lady Broncos to a 10-1 record in the first Southern Division meet of the season last month. Fayetteville State, which rolled to the CIAA title despite dressing just five bowlers all season last year, easily won the first meet of the 2011-12 season. The Lady Broncos picked up the victory despite missing 2010-11 CIAA Rookie of the Year De'Andrea Bethea (So., Raleigh, N.C.) and Daisy Weishman (Jr., Fayetteville, N.C.) missing the first part of the season due to injury. Two-time CIAA Bowler of the Year Akira Turner also graduated last season after leading Fayetteville State to two league championships.
