Hampton, VA - Two Fayetteville State Lady Bronco Bowlers were recognized by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) for their performances in the first divisional meet of the season. Sophomore Akira Turner was named CIAA Player of the Week; while freshman teammate Kiara Reid earned Rookie of the Week honors. Turner, a native of Detroit, MI, delivered the best tournament average to lead FSU to a first-place finish in the CIAA Western Division Bowling Tournament held in Fayetteville, NC at B & B Bowling Lanes (November 7th - 9th). Turner had a 205.4 bowling average including six matches where she bowled 200 or better (234, 234, 221, 220, 214, 201). Reid finished sixth in terms of best tournament bowling averages. A native of Rocky Mount, NC, Reid averaged 164.4 for the event and bowled a high of 225. Fayetteville State scored 27 points to take home first place and finished 11-1 as a team. The Lady Broncos return to the lanes for the Jeannette Lee Invitational held in Richmond, VA at Bowl America Southwest December 5th-7th.
