DONNELLY AND TURNER RECEIVE CIAA WEEKLY HONORS



The Lady Broncos continue their season in February 7, 2008 at the FAMU Women's Bowling Invitational

Hampton, VA - Fayetteville State University lady bowlers Jessica Donnelly and Akira Turner were named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player and Rookie of the week respectively.

Donnelly, a junior, was instrumental in the Lady Broncos claiming another divisional championship at the CIAA Western Division Challenge (Oct. 10-13). The Fayetteville, NC native had a 188.7 average for the event, including three 200 games (222, 214, 208). Her performance for the week earned her CIAA Player of the Week honors and helped the Lady Broncos post a 15-0 record.

Turner, a freshman from Detroit, MI also had an impressive week at the division challenge. The computer science major was named the challenge's Most Valuable Bowler, carrying a 193 average with three 200 games also (239, 222, 216). Turner was not only named CIAA Rookie of the Week; she also contributed to Fayetteville State University becoming the first school in the CIAA to roll a team score of 1000 plus.

The Lady Broncos next competition is the Florida A&M University Women's Bowling Invitational that will take place in Tallahassee, FL, February 7th-10th.
