RALEIGH, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association held its annual Spring Meeting today at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley. At the conclusion of the general assembly, an awards luncheon was held to honor the 2009-2010 Coaches of the Year and to introduce the Administrators of the Year. The association honored three individuals from Fayetteville State University, Head Football Coach Kenny Phillips, Head Bowling Coach Robert "Bobby" Henderson and Sports Information Director Adrian Ferguson.

Kenny Phillips receives the CIAA Football Coach of the Year Award


Kenny Phillips received his plaque for Football Coach of the Year after leading the Broncos to its third conference championship and NCAA Division II playoff. Previously during the year, Phillips was named the Coach of the Year for the 100% Wrong Club and the Pigskin Club.

Robert Henderson also received his Coach of the Year plaque for leading the Broncos Women's Bowling Team to a 60-2 CIAA record and their seventh straight Western Division Title. The Broncos became the first team in CIAA history to average 1,000 or more pins per match for a weekend play. Henderson's squad also became the first team to average 900 or more in team scores for an entire season.

Adrian Ferguson was named the CIAA John Holley Sports Information Director of the Year. Ferguson is into his third year at Fayetteville State University. He implemented live webcasts for football and volleyball games, press conferences, basketball coaches' radio shows, along with live online game statistics for all sports. This is the second time Ferguson has received this award during his career.

The CIAA Spring Meeting and the NCAA DII Track & Field National Championships will mark the conclusion of the 2009-2010 athletic season. The Track & Field Nationals will be hosted by Johnson C. Smith University from May 27-29.
