SAVANNAH STARLING OF FAYETTEVILLE STATE NAMED CIAA ROOKIE BOWLER OF THE MONTH

Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State University women’s bowling freshman Savannah Starling (Fayetteville, NC) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Rookie Bowler of the Month for her performance during the North-South Meet II held January 27-29, 2017. Monthly bowling honors are selected by the Bowling Coaches Association based on student-athlete performances.

Starling finished No. 2 at Event II with 1,704 total pins. She rolled an average of 213 pins per contest after participating in 8 games. Starling had the highest team average during the event, including five game of 200 or higher.

Clements of Virginia State knocked down an individual event-high 280 pins in her final game to cap a total 1,951 pins to earn top individual bowler and January Bowler of the Month. The 2016 Bowler of the Year competed for an average of 216.7778 pins per game in 9 total contests.

Fellow freshman team Brittany Worthy (Durham, NC) earned CIAA Rookie of the Month honors (Nov. 11-13) following the CIAA North-South Meet I held in Laurel, MD.

FSU will travel to Richmond, VA to compete in the CIAA Roundup held February 10-12, 2017. Virginia Union will host the event at Bowl America Southwest located at 11532 Hull Street Road.
