FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The defending CIAA Champion Fayetteville State Lady Broncos will host the next round of CIAA matches this weekend at B&B Bowling Lanes in Fayetteville.

The 2010-11 CIAA champions are off to a 10-1 start to the season, and return to the lanes for the first time this semester. Bowling competition begins around noon on Friday and continues through the weekend. Teams included in the second Southern Division meet of the season include Winston-Salem State, St. Augustine's Shaw, Livingstone and Johnson C. Smith.

For the first time this season, the Lady Broncos will be at full strength. They began the season with of the top bowler's from last season "Fab Five," De'Andrea Bethea (So., Raleigh, N.C.) and Daisy Weishman (Jr., Fayetteville, N.C.), injured. Bethea is the reigning CIAA Rookie of the Year.

That didn't slow Fayetteville State down in November, though.

Kiara Reid (Jr., Rocky Mount, N.C.) was named as the CIAA Southern Division's Bowler of the Month and Crystal Mujica (Fr., Fayetteville, N.C.) was named as the division's Rookie of the Month following league play in November.

Reid, who enjoyed a 167.8 average, and Mujica, who had a 169.5 average, led the Lady Broncos to a 10-1 record in the first Southern Division meet of the season last month. Fayetteville State, which rolled to the CIAA title despite dressing just five bowlers all season last year, easily won the first meet of the 2011-12 season.

The Lady Broncos are seeking their 600th team victory in the program's history. They will begin the weekend of competition 12 wins away from 600.
