PETERSBURG, VA – After more than two months away from competition, the Fayetteville State bowling team returns to the lanes this Friday to square off with Southern Division foes at the second CIAA Bowling Event of the season.

The Lady Broncos swept through competition at the CIAA Event I at home back in November. They’ll face each of those teams (Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone, St. Augustine’s, Shaw and Winston-Salem State) again over this three-day event hosted by Virginia State University in Petersburg, VA. FSU won’t see Northern Division teams until the cross-divisional round-up in Charlotte on February 7.

Fayetteville State saw consistent play from each of its five bowlers at the first event. No one averaged less than 188 pins per game in the 10 games each player bowled.

Megan Maynor (Fayetteville, NC) paced the team with a 200.2 average and the two best FSU games of the event, a 241 against WSSU on Nov. 8 and a 247 against Shaw on Nov. 9.

Ashley Cooper (Rocky Mount, NC) bowled a 234 against St. Augustine’s, while Crystal Mujica (Fayetteville, NC) rolled a 233. The two joined Maynor in recording 230-plus pin games. Each of the five bowlers had at least one 200-pin game.

In the first event, FSU knocked down 9,636 total pins in 12 matchups (two matchups against Shaw were recorded as Shaw forfeits) compared to just 6,630 by its opponents.

The teams will play one another in conventional matches on Friday and Saturday before proceeding to Baker games on Sunday.
