Durham, NC - Prior to the start of the 2009 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Bowling Championships, Fayetteville State's Akira Turner (sophomore - Detroit, MI) and Jessica Florit (senior - Sanford, NC) were named to the All-CIAA Team. The Lady Broncos were also recognized for winning the Western Division Title. FSU faced its cross divisional opponents at AMF Durham Lanes in Durham, NC. In Baker matches, the Lady Broncos completed the day with a 3-2 record for nine points. Fayetteville State began the three-day tournament with a 751-511 victory over Virginia Union. After the group effort in ten frames, the Lady Broncos picked up two more wins an 862-806 pin count over St. Paul's and 763-746 win over Virginia State. FSU is currently tied in fourth place along with Saint Paul's. The team dropped its final two matches to Bowie State (723-809) and Elizabeth City State (744-825). The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Vikings are tied for first with 15 points and a 5-0 record. Tournament play will resume on Sunday (March 22) at 9:15 am with cross divisional, all divisional and elimination baker matches before eight teams advance to the double-elimination bracket format. Fayetteville State won the previous 2007 CIAA Title and experienced a NCAA Elite Eight berth. They Lady Broncos will be looking for a repeat.
