Fayetteville State Sweeps CIAA North on Day 1 of Roundup

Raleigh, NC – The Fayetteville State Bowling team took on its Northern Division opponents in the first day of the CIAA North/South Round and racked up five straight wins to improve its overall record to a 28-0.

The Broncos opened the day at the Pleasant Valley Lanes with an 820-692 win over Virginia Union. FSU defeated Chowan 866 to 661, bowled a 735-595 victory over the ECSU Vikings, and an 838-744 win over Virginia State Trojans. In the final match of the day against the defending CIAA Champions Bowie State, the Broncos prevailed 874-754.

Devondra Bazemore

Devondra Bazemore (Fayetteville, NC) led the day with two 200-games. The senior rolled a 210 against Chowan and an even 200 against Bowie State. Bazemore had day’s average of 173.2.

Every Bronco was close to 200 or over it.

Savannah Starling, the January CIAA Bowler of the Month, was two pins shy of 200 when she rolled a 198 against Virginia State. She finished with the Broncos second-best average with a 170.6.

Brittany Worthy scored a 195 against Chowan and Veronica Santiago rolled a 194 in the first game versus Virginia Union.

Fayetteville State will face the North again on the second day of the Round-up.
