Fayetteville, NC - Fayetteville State won the CIAA Western Division Event II with a 7-1 team and 3-1 Baker record. The tournament was held in Salisbury, NC at Woodleaf Bowling Lanes. Host Livingstone finished fourth while Johnson C. Smith and Saint Augustine's ranked second and third respectively. Senior Jessica Florit (Sanford, NC) bowled over 1,902 pins to lead the event with a 190.2 average. Sophomore Akira Turner (Detroit, MI) ranked second for the West with a 187.4 average.
Florit bowled five 200 plus games to boost her average while Turner had two. Fayetteville State lost a 754-744 match to Saint Augustine's on the 16th but went undefeated on the second day of competition. The Lady Broncos led in team pins with 843 more than the second ranked Lady Golden Bulls, 7971-7128). In the Baker Match, the top three teams had 3-1 records but FSU prevailed with 3,982 pins.
Fayetteville State now leads the division with a 21-3 CIAA record and an overall record of 25-10.The Lady Broncos will be back in action on the weekend on February 6 through the 8th at the CIAA East & West Bowling Round-up. The event will be hosted by Bowie State at AMF Bowie Lanes in Bowie, Maryland.
